Are You Little Red Riding Hood?

Posted by Amateur Blogs

Once upon a time there was a young girl named Little Red Riding Hood who lived by herself in a land far far away. Red was a sickly child and as such, was shunned by the other girls and boys. She hardly ever got any visitors. So she spent lots of time by herself, wishing for the day when people would start liking her and come by her tiny cottage for a visit.

In order to make the days go faster Red began taking daily walks through the forest. One day she came upon a magical plant called a truffle. She’d heard about the power of these plants and had been warned that they were heavily guarded by a big bad wolf. According to legend the wolf knew people liked to eat truffles and was content to let them have a few at a time. He only got angry if people took too many at once.

Although Red knew the wolf couldn’t guard every section of the forest at once she was careful not to dig up too many truffles at one time. However Red soon made a great discovery about the truffles: each one eaten made her a little bit stronger. She also discovered that the larger the truffle, the more strength she’d gain. So she spent lots of time looking for truffles while being careful not to take too many at once. As months went by she became stronger and stronger. As she gained strength she also began attracting the attention of other girls and boys. They started visiting Red at her cottage to see how she was doing. Over time Red made friends with her new visitors. And she occasionally shared a truffle or two which seemed to please them and make them want to visit more often. Because some of them began telling others about her, word spread throughout the entire kingdom that Red was a very interesting little girl. Because of this Red stopped making trips to the forest; she was too busy visiting the cottages of her new friends. As time went by Red noticed that the power of the magical truffles began fading. She started feeling weak again. Several of her friends stopped visiting and her popularity waned.

Because Red so loved her new found attention she developed a plan. She decided to pay one of her cousins to go into the forest to find the truffles for her. This worked out really well because her cousin had lots of experience finding truffles. He brought in thousands of them every month. He got wealthy, Red got stronger, and people started visiting her again. Life was good.

As Red was skipping home one day she was attacked by the big bad wolf. He told her that he knew she’d been eating massive amounts of truffles and paying her cousin to dig them up for her. He explained that since he’d been busy with other poachers it had taken him a while to pay her a visit. He told her “by the way, your cousin was easy to follow. Although he gathered truffles from different places in the forest he always came directly to your cottage with them.”

The wolf then bit off her head, carried her body into his forest, and buried her in a deep dark hole.

The End.

As someone who takes walks in the woods with a Wolf I must object to the way the poor creatures are always demonized in popular literature… perhaps if Red had bothered to get to know the wolf she might have made a friend! :-)

Hahaha… Chanya I’m not sure what that was but you’ll never work in Hollywood with endings like that.

Cheers

What a great coincidence! This article was actually written with you in mind and was based on advice you’ve recently dispensed about overusing tools like BS. Okay, now do you see where the article is going?

Are You Little Red Riding Hood? | blogstruk.com…

Here’s my very own tongue-in-cheek version of a popular fairy tale about a little girl, a forest full of truffles, and a well known big bad wolf that always gets his man. Or girl, depending on how you look at it. Lets see how many of you recognize …

Nice fairy tale Chanya, kind of reminds me of link building and Google. Very creative.

Holy crap! I hope I’m NOT Little Red Riding Hood. I don’t want my head bitten off! And I only like the chocolate kind of truffles! ;)

Seriously, it was obvious this had to do with blogging but I wasn’t sure who the wolf represented. What is the BS tool you speak of?

BS is one of those pay-for-links services that in turn sends lots of links to your site.

I deliberately made the last part shocking because that’s how I imagine people feel when their entire site gets de-indexed!

I knew it was going to be a metaphor for link building!

But, Red should have carried the shovel around with her. Then when the Big Bad Wolf came, she could have beat him over the head with it. Then, that would ruin your metaphor, but if all the people visiting Red ganged up together, they could have run the wolf right out of the forest! It is only by the sloth of those visitors that the wolf is able to run amuck doing whatever he pleases.

Dan:

Yes, it would ruin the metaphor but I’m all for a little blood and guts now and then.

You and Dan scare me with the serious blogging sometimes. I’m going to go hide under my bed now. Call me when this post is over. ;)
