SPAM Mail: There’s Gold In Them Thar’ Hills!
Posted by Amateur BlogsYesterday, as I was scrolling through the 414 new spam email messages I’d received I noticed that for about every 50 or so deleted emails there were 1 or 2 that really caught my eye. So I thought "Hmmn. Why am I pausing to read some of these messages? What makes some of them so appealing?” The answer was simple: the subject lines were pretty catchy.
As a blogger you know that one of the best ways to get people to your site is to publish posts with attention-grabbing titles. It goes without saying that your content is what keeps them reading and the reason they return, but the title is what draws them in. So I decided to look through some of the message titles to see if I could use them for inspiration. What I found was a bit of Blogger’s Gold.
Think about it. Millions if not billions of spam mail is generated each day. As such, the spammers know that in order to get clicks they have to create message titles that stand out from the rest. So why not learn from the pros?
Here are some of the spam message titles that I found in my Inbox. With some tweaking they could easily be made into posts:
| Spam Title | Blog Title |
So, to summarize this blog tip, if you’re at a loss for something to blog about, spend some time mining through your spam mail. You might find a few nuggets of inspiration there.
Interesting concept. I looked through a couple of hundred, though, and didn’t see anything nearly as good as what you have. I guess you just get better spam that I do.
Mike: Yes, some of my spammers are graduates of DeVry University. You can’t put a price on a good education.
LOL. Oh my this was a good read. Nice creativity with those blog titles, Chanya. They definitely would have gotten my attention and pulled me in.
Teeni: Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the article!
Do you know that you don’t have a favicon? you have the generic bluehost/hostmonster icon.

You should put a custom one up
Brian: Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve actually tried this a couple of times before but for some reason the favicon kept disappearing. I don’t know if that’s an “IE thing” or what, but I eventually removed the code from the template.
I’ll give it another try. Thanks!
Ok Chanya… you definitely have too much time on your hands if you are reading spam! Lol
The fact that you turned it into a great post is a tribute to your talents. Very creative.
Grizz: Thanks. Yes, I have no life!
