Make Money by Giving My Money Away
Posted by Amateur BlogsI’ve decided to conduct a blog contest. I’ve been thinking of doing this for a few weeks but I’ve been looking for a unique way to give away a prize. Sure, I could let people enter the contest by leaving comments or linking back to one of my posts, but I really want to do something different.
So, I’ve decided to let YOU decide how I should conduct the contest. And I’m going to pay you for it.
Here are the specifics:
- At the beginning of January I’ll announce a contest on this blog. The prize will be a $20 Amazon gift card.
- I need you, my
greedyloyal readers, to come up with a unique way for me to do that. - To encourage your efforts, I’ll give a $10 Amazon gift card to the person that submits the most unique/interesting/appealing idea for giving away the $20 gift card.
- You have until 12:00 midnight (EST) December 31st to submit your ideas. Email your ideas to me at contestideas@blogstruk.com. Only one entry per person is allowed and you must include the URL of your blog in the body of the email.
- I’ll review all of the entries, announce the winner on January 1st, and give the winner’s blog a link in the post. I’ll kickoff the blog contest (the one recommended by the winner) shortly thereafter.
If you think about it, this post describes a blog contest for choosing a blog contest! Hmmn, maybe I should submit this as an entry . . . .
Anyway, put on your thinking caps and come up with something extraordinary. I can’t wait to see your ideas.
NOTE: Since this is not a blog about making money, the title of this post represents the first time I’ve ever used the term "make money" in one of my articles. I feel so . . . mature. ![]()

Make Money by Giving My Money Away…
I just can’t seem to think of a unique way to hold a blog contest. I want it to start in January, but I want it to be unique – something you don’t come across every day.
So I’ve decided to hold a contest for people to tell me how to hold the conte…

Great blog contest

I’m having my own issues right now. I also asked for help! My goal is to maintain my PR, so it’ll probably be a typical linky thing.
Bloggrrl: Great, I’ll definitely be entering your contest when it’s announced. Thanks for dropping in.
It would appear my entry might be the first official “idea” for this contest? I even came up with a easy title! Hopefully I can get some free links, if, whenever someone holds a contest of that type, they’d potentially link to my site as the concept originator. I can dream
What’cha think?

I am in ::::
Here’s what I think you can do for your next contest :
You can ask your readers to write a review of your blog in terms of design and layout and content and suggest up to 3-4 changes that could make your blog better! Like something that gives you more readership, more traffic, a still better design, etc!Reward the one with the best suggestions and implement those suggestions on your blog giving due credits to the winner
How’s that?

Abhinav: Thanks for the idea! To officially enter this entry in the contest simply submit your idea to contestideas@blogstruk.com. Don’t forget to include the URL of your blog.
I just checked out your te.ch.Xtreme blog. That’s hands-down one of the best Blogger blog designs I’ve seen.
Hi Chanya, I like simplicity. A comment, or subscribe to my feed, or a linkback. A simple link back, would probably be your best bet. You can be creative: such as ask 1 question, like mention one positive thing about my blog on your site. Including the link to my blog. And leave the URL in a comment post. Or something to that effect. Ask for something, but not too much. Or it might be too much effort to enter. Good Luck, Emma
Emma: The idea “mention 1 positive thing about my blog” is a great idea. Is that just a suggestion or an entry in the contest? If the latter, can you send it to contestideas@blogstruk.com?
You know, in retrospect I think I made a mistake by requiring people to send their contest ideas to an email address. I probably should have let people enter by leaving comments – this is in line with your suggestion to keep it simple. For now though I’ve got to stick to my rules since I’ve received other entries via email.
I need to add this to my list of “lessons-learned.”
Thanks!
[...] of fact, Emma submitted the “keep it simple” suggestion as a blog tip for folks running blog contests. It’s sound advice – how many times have you turned away from a blog contest because the [...]
I’m returning your blog visit but while I’m here I’m also emailing you my idea for the contest. Cuz I’m nosey like that and had to read a few of your posts while visiting.
Oh, and Happy New Year, btw!
Teeni: Thanks for the visit. I got your contest idea!
